Cliff focuses most of his time into playing and recording with indie rock band Lawn and teaching private lessons in Miami.
Outside of his career he enjoys spending time with his wife, exploring natural areas, reading books, and enjoying quality time with his close friends. Other hobbies of his also include cooking, being ambushed by his cat, and spoiling his seven parakeets - seriously, they go through a lot of fruits and greens.
Cliff Dobson was born in Dayton, Ohio. Although neither of Cliff's parents were musicians, they created a home filled with music, whether it was by playing records or taking Cliff to see live music and festivals. Their love for music was so strong that they even hosted backyard music festivals, bringing together talented musicians and music lovers - many of whom became close friends. It was in this music-filled environment that Cliff's journey as a musician began.
At the age of 10, Cliff joined his school’s concert band as a percussionist, and soon after, his parents bought him his first drum set. The moment he sat behind the drums, he knew he had found his calling.
In high school, Cliff expanded his musical horizons by joining his school's marching band, where he played various instruments in the drumline. During the off-season, he immersed himself in indoor percussion, which quickly became one of his greatest passions. This led him to join world class WGI Percussion groups such as STRYKE Percussion and Connexus.
By age 16, Cliff had moved to Florida, where he immersed himself in music - in school and locally. It was during this time of transition that he decided to pursue a career in music and his passion led him to the University of Miami's acclaimed Frost School of Music, where he worked harder than he ever had to hone his craft. It was there he met is current band, Lawn.
Now married and in his 20s, Cliff works as a professional musician in Miami, where he continues to teach and play shows.
